Topic: Leaders and directors in an organization are normally older people. Some people think younger leader would be better. Do you agree or disagree?

The general norm is to consider older people as leaders and directors of companies; however, a few people feel youngsters will make better leaders. I agree with the latter statement as I feel young leaders will be more technologically savvy and will bring in fresh ideas to the organization.

To initiate, traditionally, experience and stability in a particular company has always resulted in people eventually taking on the roles of leaders or directors in that company. For example: Ratan Tata rose from the ranks of a Management Trainee to become the CEO of Tata Sons. While such leaders are well versed with the customs and traditions of the company, they do not always have the courage to take new risks or to bring in new management styles. A younger, more educated leader on the other hand can bring in new technological advancements which can keep the company in line with the changing trends in the world. Considering the same example of Tata Sons, new management in Tata Motors has resulted in the company exploring the possibilities of electric cars, keeping in line with the world.

Another very big advantage of having young leaders is that they do not believe in hierarchy. They believe in conducting brainstorming sessions with their teams to arrive at new ideas in a faster way. This encourages the employees to innovate and come up with fresh products and ideas. This helps the company to grow faster. They are able to achieve more in less time. For example, many private banks are hiring fresh IIT, IIM graduates as Executive Directors especially in sales and data analytics. These young leaders bring in so much energy and fresh perspective that the banks find their profits growing at a much higher and faster rate. I also agree with the opinion that young people make better leaders because they are more open to change.

To recapitulate, we are living in a very fast paced, highly competitive world today, so for companies to survive in the competition, they need young leaders who are capable of changing with times and successfully leading their companies also through change. (349 words).
